Bruce P. Dunn
Bruce began his career in the industry in 1984 as a commodity floor
broker with Prudential Bache Securities. While at Pru, Bruce worked
the floor, executed trades for the professional commodity trading
community and literally learning from the ground up the mechanics
of commodity trading on the COMEX and NYMEX exchanges.
In 1986, Bruce
joined Gerald Metals in a similar capacity but to focus specifically
on the platinum group metals. In 1990, Bruce was promoted and moved
to the HQ in Stamford to be a trader in charge of the platinum,
palladium, and rhodium trading books and customer accounts at Gerald
Metals. In that position, Bruce maintained existing accounts, and
developed new accounts and trading partners, most of whom remain
Bruce's clients today. It was in this capacity that Bruce acquired
the skills necessary to manage and grow a book of commodity transactions.
In 1993, in recognition of Bruce's consistent contribution to the
Company's bottom line, and consistent loyalty from his clients,
Bruce was promoted to Senior Trader in charge of the Platinum Group
Metal Desk at Gerald Metals, a position he held until lured to Standard
Bank by Jim Verraster in 1997. At Standard, Bruce started, from
the ground up, a new trading operation building on the relationships
that he and Jim had acquired over the years at Gerald Metals and
elsewhere.
