Finn Behnken graduated as a mining engineer from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa in 1994, having worked in coal and gold mining. He furthered his career by specialising in mining finance and spent almost 10 years with South Africa's Nedbank Ltd serving as a non-executive director in relation to certain of the bank's gold producing investments. In 2006 Finn moved to London to develop Nedbank's international business. In October 2007 Finn joined Pallinghurst Advisors who moved him to South Africa in 2009 to manage their 49.9% equity interest in Tshipi é Ntle Manganese Mining. In 2012 he commenced full time employment with Tshipi as the CEO overseeing the building of a new $200m greenfield manganese mine in the Northern Cape.
